OpenSource
OpenSource provides a variety of resources and support to LGBTQ students at the University. All students, LGBTQ, as well as allies, are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities provided to get questions answered, meet other LGBTQ students in a low-key setting. OpenSource has two components:
- As part of the University's efforts to provide all students with the support and resources they need, a group of LGBTQ and straight but supportive faculty staff and students are available to answer questions or offer support and advice gay, lesbian, trans, bi or questioning students and their allies. Their names and contact information are available here.
- In an effort to bring students together from all the schools and to create a greater sense of community, OpenSource also has started a set of low key, social discussion groups for gay men, lesbians, bi, and trans individuals and queers of color. These groups will meet weekly, and provide a confidential space for students to get to know each other and discuss topics of interest to them: social, political, academic, or otherwise. The meetings are open to all, graduate, professional and undergraduate students and allies/friends of LGBTQ individuals are especially welcome to attend. All meetings are held in 5710 South Woodlawn.
